Earlier this year I traveled to St. Augustine Florida with some fellow photographers for a fun-filled weekend of shooting. Some of my favorite shots from the weekend were taken at the historic Flagler College campus on an overcast day.
I decided to pull out my Hasselblad 500C, buy 4 rolls of Ilford Delta 400 120, bring a few film backs and carry my Minolta auto meter IV. I had not shot with this camera in at least ten years and it was a blast pulling it out of its sleek Zero Halliburton case. For the duration of the trip I shot with with 60mm lens, and realized after the film was developed that the focusing screen was slightly out of alignment or that I needed a brighter screen.
Loading the film was quite the trip down memory lane and depressing the shutter reminding me of how great the Hasslblad sounds. Click. Wind. Smile.
I processed the film at Zebra Color in St. Petersburg Florida and was quite happy with my negative densities. Zebra sold me the film and uses an Ilford replenishing developer.
Those are wonderful – I must admit I’ve recently begun pulling out some old film gear as well and have loved getting that “analog” feel once again.
